I can remember riding my mountain bike around my home town of Roswell GA, back in the early 90’s. I could go for 8-10 miles and never see another person out riding any kind of bike. Now on any given day, I can guarantee at least a half dozen on any given day at any given time and on the weekends, many more than that. Roswell is becoming a “cycling town". Little bit by little bit cyclist are moving here for the location near the city of Atlanta, near the big climbs of the north Georgia Mountains, and the flat/rolling area near the Chattahoochee river. Long time residents are joining in on the fun. It is the perfect training grounds for a climber, or a sprinter. I mean I do hate leaving my driveway and having to either go up or down, but I think you all get my point. I forgot to mention that my home town of Roswell Georgia is just a healthy town in general with public paths, mountain bike trails, and runners all over the place. I love waking up and giving the nod to all the people I see out while exercising. You know the nod, as if both parties know exactly why we are doing what we are doing and the purpose of it all. Heading down to the river and seeing the crew teams on the river as I jam past at high rates of speed is a joy. We have 4-5 bike shops right in my town, but several more within 20 minutes of home. I really do think Bike Roswell Georgia, the local shops, the city transportation dept, the recreation & parks, and my tax paying money has done a great job in promoting cycling here. The job is no where near done, but we’ve come a long way from being told we should ride our bikes on the side walks to city asking us how they can improve the city cycling. So pack up your things and move to here! Well maybe not right here, but near by, I still like the farm land that is still pretty near by and I don’t want homes where horse pastures should be. That is part of the whole attraction to the sport; passing by some cows and that pig in the lady’s yard up on the Cherokee county line! Cheers to a great ride between church services in Roswell Georgia USA!!!
